Invisalign technology is pretty amazing, isn’t it? It used to be that if you were getting braces, they were made of metal, and that meant mouth sores, cuts, aches, and discomfort. You couldn’t eat certain foods or gum, and we won’t even get started on how your mouth felt after your braces were tightened every month.

But those days are gone for many people, and we couldn’t be happier. Enter Invisalign — clear, removable aligners to gently adjust your teeth, without the need for metal braces. And they are saidto shape your teeth up to 50% faster than their metal counterparts, even for complex cases.

So how does Invisalign work? You’ll work with an Invisalign-trained professional who will take a 3D scan of your mouth and create an action plan for you. They’ll map out exactly where your teeth will move, and how long it should take.

From there, you’ll receive a set of custom created aligners, made especially for your smile, from your 3D scan. The aligners are clear and made of something called multilayer SmartTrack material, which helps them stay in place. The aligners fit snugly right over your teeth and are barely noticeable.

You won’t notice it happening, but when you wear them for the recommended 20-22 hours each day, your teeth are shifting horizontally or vertically, based on your needs. The more you wear them, the faster your smile transforms. And as your treatment progresses, you trade your aligners in for a new set every week or so, and the process starts over again as your teeth are slowly shifted into the desired position. You’ll touch in with your dentist regularly to ensure the plan is working for you.

And after that, all that’s left to do is enjoy your brand-new smile, without the pain of metal braces. You’re waiting for the catch here, and we can’t say we blame you. But there isn’t one…just straighter teeth, without the use of metal. (Yes, really.)
